Great Beginnings Early Learning Center provides a stimulating and nurturing environment for children ages two years to five years. We are licensed for 42 preschoolers.
We offer a child centered program that focuses on each child as a unique individual. At Great Beginnings we feel the best way to prepare children for their future is to truly honor and value where they are at in their present developmental phase.
Our Preschool offers a mixed age grouping for children over the age of two for a portion of each day. Upon arrival the children are able to choose from a variety of activities throughout the classroom. Mixing the children from ages two to five gives the younger ones opportunities to learn from the older ones. It gives the older children the opportunity to be role models and nurturers to the younger children. It’s an arrangement that benefits children from all age groups.
For a portion of the day the children break up into small groups. Participation in The Bumble Bee, Ladybug or Butterfly Groups is not determined by age, but rather by each child’s individual development. Each group has it’s own teacher who plans the daily and weekly activities based on her observations of the children’s development and interests. Whether a child is in The Bumble Bee, Ladybug or Butterfly Group they will be provided with interesting, engaging and developmentally appropriate activities to choose from.
